I had folders with saved items in the original EBSCOhost. Will my saved folders and content be moved to the new EBSCOhost interface?
Answer
Yes. All of your custom folders, saved items, and saved searches will be available in the classic EBSCOhost will be moved to your Dashboard in the new EBSCOhost interface. If you have custom folders with saved content, those will have to be exported from classic EBSCOhost and uploaded to the new interface.
Below are instructions to help you understand how to access your research from the classic EBSCOhost interface within the new EBSCOhost.
Saved Records
If you saved records to the main Articles folder in the My Folder area while signed into your personal MyEBSCO account, you are able to see and manage these records in the New UI in the Records tab in the Saved section of the dashboard.
Saved Searches
EBSCO has migrated your permanent saved searches so they are both visible and manageable in the new EBSCOhost under the Searches tab in the Saved section of the dashboard.
Permanent saved searches migrated to the new interface will retain all key saved search properties, including:
- Name
- Description
- Date search saved
- Target database(s)
- Query
- Limiters
- Expanders
- Search Mode
Limitations:
The following limitations should be noted:
-
Searches in the Persistent Link to Searches sub-folder are not migrated.
-
Editing a saved search in the classic interfaces does update the migrated saved search in the new interfaces. In addition, updating the saved search in the new interfaces does not update the saved search in the classic interfaces.
-
Deleting a saved search in the classic interfaces does delete the migrated saved search in the new interfaces. In addition, deleting the saved search in the new interfaces does not delete the saved search in the classic interfaces.
-
Saved searches migrated to the New UI do not retain whether the saved search was originally created using the Basic or Advanced search screen.
-
The search result count of a migrated saved search will always contain a zero value. However, you can obtain the latest record count when re-running a search and viewing that count on the search results page.
Please note: Search alerts and publication alerts are not migrated to the new user interfaces.
Downloading MyEBSCO Custom Folders into New User Interface Projects
On average, less than 1% of Classic interface users created “Custom Folders” to organize their research. In the new EBSCO user interfaces, “Projects” have replaced Custom Folders and are available to users now. EBSCO will not be migrating custom folder content but has provided you with a way to retrieve this content and re-create your custom folders on the new EBSCOhost, as defined below.
Instructions to access your data after migrating to the new user interfaces:
-
Sign into the new EBSCOhost interface with your MyEBSCO account.
-
Click Projects under the left-hand Dashboard navigation bar.
-
On the Projects screen, click the Get report button to begin the creation of the Excel file for your content.
Note: all folders are tied to a user profile and your institution's Customer ID through which you are accessing. If you have custom folders in a different group or profile, you will need to access and download those separately.
-
Once the file is ready for download, click the Download report button.
-
The Excel file will be downloaded to your browser's downloads folder with the filename: “EBSCO_folder_report.xlsx”.
