How do I create a free NYTimes.com account through Creighton?
Answer
You can create a free NYTimes.com subscription on this page using your Creighton email address. You should see the Creighton University login page where you log-in with your Creighton email address and password.
- If you are prompted to the Creighton University login screen, sign in
- Click "Create Account"
- Enter your Creighton Email and pick and password
- Select the options you desire
- Click "Create Account."
- Select the appropriate radial button (if you are a student, enter your graduation year)
- Select "Get Started"
You should then be able to log in to NYTimes.com or the mobile app for free access to News, Cooking, and Wirecutter. Other New York Times content, such as Games and The Athletic, require an individual subscription since they are not part of the Creighton University Libraries' institutional subscription.
Please note that your access through the CU Libraries to the New York Times does expire after one year. If you are getting a message that indicates your pass has expired, you will need to claim access to another pass to renew your access for another year. You can do so by logging in at this link once again.
If you are still having trouble accessing the New York Times content and have an active pass, be sure that you do not have an active individual subscription to the NYTimes News, Cooking, and/or Wirecutter tied to your Creighton email address. Any active paid individual subscription will override the free access pass provided by CU Libraries.
